This is the story of Vancouver band THE LEFT, hailing from Langley, a vibrant community located in southwest BC that borders the USA. These Langleroos have been working together trying to write hit music since 2002. As you might imagine, they have tons of stories over the last 10 years making music in vancouver and trying to make a impression on the scene.  From the highs of reaching goals and unforgettable performances to the lows of being ripped off and near death experiences, they feel like they are just starting to shine.

LEFT-FALL-2010-107-1

They were all taught music by Eric and Carl’s father in high school but being different ages, never really played together until after graduation. As young adults, they formed a brotherhood called THE LEFT; a band based on commitment and loyalty with equal responsibilities and rewards. The duties of new recordings, videos and designing merchandise to cooking and driving are all shared and done in-house.

LEFT-FALL-2010-113

It may be cliché but the band is inspired by greats like the Beatles and Coldplay and any band where the focus is on the melody. Their approach to songwriting is ultimately the melody must be catchy and memorable for every song. The songs feature stalwart group vocals and four-part harmonies lead by Kevin or Josh. The jangly pop sound expands on universal themes of romance lost and found, with ear-pleasing turns of phrase that everyone can relate to.

THE LEFT attribute their musical success to the mentorship of their producers, multi-platinum award-winning GGGarth (Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers) Ben Kaplan (Shakira, Hedley). Over the last 5 years they rigorously developed the band’s songwriting, touring and recording and introduced the band to their manager, Allen Moy (54-40, Barney Bentall). THE LEFT’s upcoming full length album release, “Cycles” was mixed by JUNO award winning mixer Randy Staub (U2, Metallica) and mastered in Hollywood with Alan Yoshida (Paul McCartney, Miles Davis)

Hit singles, “Cellophane” (#9 Best new download on amazon.com) and “Love Don’t Work” have over 10 new radio adds in Canada and 15 across the US. Former 99.3 The Fox Vancouver Seeds, Vancouver Summer Sessions and 100.5 Peak Performance Project winners, THE LEFT rarely fail when they set their minds to hardwork. Their performance credentials include over 300 shows across North America and opening spots for 54-40, Hedley, The Trews, Tal Bachman, Blind Melon and a featured performance at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Success with local television as well as CTV licensed all songs from their last album for their primetime drama, "Whistler"
